Keeping in view the Rotaract goals to develop leadership & professional skills in organising and executing the projects & to serve the community at large , group activities were organized by Rotaract Club of Pune Katraj. The area of Focus was ‘Disease Prevention & Treatment’. Members of Rotary club of Pune katraj provided a great support to this year long activity of the Rotaractors thus giving them a chance to develop their professional skills & at the same time serve the society. The activities carried out were of various nature like Dental & Health Checkups, Awareness of Oral & Personal hygiene, distribution of the warm cloth, distribution of dental kits (tooth brush & tooth pastes) to school children and also distribution of sanitary pad packets through project ‘ Sakhi’. The expanse of the geographical area was right from the vicinity of the Club to the different Talukas of the Pune & Raigad district. The age groups covered were from pre primary school children to the old people from old age homes. The project was carried out not only for normal students but also for special children (Deaf Mute & Slow Learners) .It covered the city area as well as rural area. The project did included the major area of ‘ Menstrual Hygiene & Awareness ‘ by sanitary napkin pack distribution & creating awareness among the girls for the same & thus tried to break social taboo which is need of the time. Till today through 18 camps 8500 no. of students/people are benefitted by this project. It will continue in coming days and it aims to cross the target of 10000 beneficiaries shortly. Project received sponsorships from various club members and some corporate companies Rotaractors worked really hard and did spent their time & energy & utilized their professional skills for the betterment of various sections of the society. They did get a chance to meet different individuals, get to know the difference in the rural & urban culture, community needs, exchange their thoughts, share experiences among themselves resulting in some good fellowships and bonding among them.
