Eyes are the most important organ in human body. Only blind people can properly understand it. Towards this we organised eye camps. Market Yard is a place from where all kitchen supplies come. Porters are inseparable part of this activity. Their health is not cared for as needed. The Porters, or Hamals as called, numbering about 1,500 were examined in July 2017 by an Expert team on eyesight. 516 spectacles were distributed and 133 cataract operations were carried out at H V Desai Hospital. We utilised total about 1200 to 1500 manhours for this activity. Similarly, we organised eye checkup activity at Village Malin wherein 300 persons were checked, 160 spectacles were distributed and 33 cataract operations were done. We utilised total about 100 manhours for this activity. We also organised chest check up. Air in Pune is highly polluted these days. Residents in Pune, especially manual workers have to inhale polluted air spoiling their lungs. In December 2017 we organised "Right to breathe" activity by examining more than 6000 people in 16 centres with the help of Jehangir Hospital, Sahyadri Hospital, Cipla and Lupin. It was first of its kind in entire India. We found out nearly 3000 persons had damaged their lungs because of polluted air. We advised them how to stop further deterioration of their lungs. We also organised this test at Malin for about 100 residents. School going girl children have deficit haemoglobin and in turn poor health. In September 2017 we organised Blood Checkup of 1200 girl students at Sadhana Vidyalay and another 1200 girl students at Shikrapur. We found several low haemoglobin cases and advised the girls as well as their parents to take care. We organised Bone density and Spirometry tests for the Drivers, Conductors, Porters of Swargate ST Depot. Nearly 600 employees were tested. It costed us more than Rs 50,000/- and we consumed 50 manhours for this activity. We organised, in association with Sahyadri Hospital, complete check up of labour camp dwellers at Amanora. 279 dwellers were examined. 70 cancer patients were detected to be treated at Sahyadri Hospital.
